Foster families

Becoming a foster family:
A key commitment in training assistance dog

From the age of 2 months, the puppies, carefully selected from breeders in whom we have the utmost confidence, are placed in foster families responsible for providing them with a stimulating, enriching and diversified environment. They remain there until the end of their training, at around 2 years of age.

A relationship of trust is first established between the dog and its foster family. His role is to socialize the puppy (discovering all possible environments) and then to prepare him for his future profession (by coming to group and individual classes).

To create a relationship of trust, the qualities required are patience, observation and the time to devote to training, play, cuddling and walks in the wild.

Part of the training is carried out using clicker training, a gentle working method that ensures precise reward timing, while eliminating many interfering gestures and words; this technique helps the owner, and therefore the dog, to behave more serenely.

The training will always be positive and progressive, so that the future assistance dog develops confidence and self-assurance at his own pace.

Being a foster family: helping a future assistance dog grow

The association covers all training costs, except for the cost of fuel to get to the courses. The foster family will always be asked to show unwavering commitment to representing the association.
