Os'mose's philosophy

Philosophie Osmose

An ethical and personalized approach to assistance dog training

Respect for the well-being of human/dog pairs is at the heart of the association's philosophy. The essential virtues are always benevolence, complicity, patience and understanding; positive reinforcement is the common denominator.

Foster assistance dogs are trained at their own pace, and the foster family is at the heart of the project: the dog stays with its foster family until the end of its training.During the last six months, the foster family is integrated into the final process with the future beneficiary and the instructor.

When the dog arrives at its foster home, it receives specific, personalized attention for several months, making it a "tailor-made dog".

This work, the fruit of numerous training courses, exchanges and constant questioning, has made the association a benchmark both nationally and internationally.

In addition to training assistance dogs, Os'mose is keen to work on accessibility in public spaces for people with reduced mobility, diabetes or epilepsy (invisible disabilities) - accompanied by their dogs - in order to change the way people look at disability/illness. This is why the association takes part in numerous events, regularly accompanied by people with reduced mobility or who are ill; it also takes part in disability awareness campaigns in schools and at other events.

Last but not least, the common thread running through the association is its family spirit, which was instilled by the founding members right from the start, and is preserved by both staff and volunteers.
